History anyone?

Last weekend it was in the 70's again so we headed down to Charleston. We love the rich history this area of the country has and the kids seem to enjoy learning about it. It rained on the way there but then cleared a bit...it was some clouds and some sun but it was warm!!! It was a bit windy by the water but we still had a fabulous time! We LOVE spending time as a family and it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg for us to have a great time! We look forward to taking friends and family when they come to visit!

Most of the streets in the historic district are all still brick...look how narrow the road is!

The kids loved finding these after they knew what it was. Most of the homes have these doors someplace on them (most are more rounded than this also) but it was for the wagons back in the day. Since they didn't have cars the covered wagons fit into a storage area but it had to be rounded at the top for the wagon. It's neat to find that sort of thing on the houses. You can also tell the one's that have the original glass in the windows because it's kind of blurry. Most of the houses are well over 100 years old and some 200.

Ethan was very fascinated with the shutters on the houses. Some were closed like the home was only used part time.
