Happy 4th of July...kind of

We decided to take a weekend trip to St. Augustine, Florida for the holiday weekend.  Spending our nations birthday in our nations oldest city seemed fun and educational...it was interesting...to say the least.  We began our trip on Friday and enjoyed a nice walk around the city.  By the time we were done we were a bit bored  (there was nothing to do in that small, historical city) so on Saturday we decided to venture down to Orlando for the day.  We had a BLAST!  We spent the day doing the Free stuff (yes, there is plenty) at Disney World!  The kids got their 1st taste of Disney and we began planning our family vacation to Disney World for next summer!  We did Downtown Disney, a ride on the monorail to see the parks, and explored The Grand Floridian (or the princess hotel as Emalie called it) and The Polynesian Resort.  We had a great time and like I said, the kids are READY for our trip to Disney!!!  On Sunday our fun was all over...the car broke!  We opened the hood in the grocery store parking lot we were in and found oil was spraying all over everything!  The kids got to take their first taxi ride and we spent the rest of the day at our hotel swimming and making a plan as to what to do with the car first thing Monday morning when the mechanics would open back up.  Fortunately we had chosen the hotel closest to downtown so we could walk towards town and see Fireworks and get a pizza so the day wasn't a total bust!  Our car was fixed by noon on Monday and we got the heck out of dodge.  We were so over that trip!  We definitely won't forget it anytime soon.  But I did get some good shots while we were gone....

I made a cake to take with us...the kids & I put jello in it to make it a poke cake,
then we decorated it to celebrate!
We did get to drive on the beach in St. Augustine...a first for the kids & I...it was really neat!
To break up the trip we got off the interstate in Georgia to check out the small islands of the state...
Did you know there was beach in Georgia?!?
The kids love taking our picture...they are getting better at it too!
