Trip down Memory Lane

The weekend before school resumed we took a road trip to Savannah, Tennessee to see Lee's grandmother. We went along with his mom and dad, sister and brother-in-law, and neices. The kids had a good time just being together! We had a good time seeing where Lee and his sister would go for family get togethers when they were young. It was literally in the middle of no where! We saw a cemetary where some of Lee's family is buried...there were graves there where the people had died in the 1800's! It was crazy! We were very near a Battleground site from the Civil War. We saw a couple old school houses where Lee's dad attended school (with no indoor plumbing), the house that he once lived in with his mom, dad, and brother (which was only 1 room also!), and we saw many other things and heard really neat stories from Lee's dad's childhood. It was very nice to get away for a weekend too! It really makes you think of how thankful you are to get special time with your family. You just never know when something will happen to someone and you won't get to see them again. Lee's grandmother is 85 and I think we made her whole weekend wonderful by going to visit her. We are already planning our next trip down during the fall.

Lee's grandfather helped build this old, historic bridge over 48 Creek.

So that makes this bridge over 50 years old.

Both, above and below, pictures are of school houses where Lee's dad attended school. The one above is a tiny 1 room school house that is now a barn. The one below is also 1 room, however much larger than the one above.

Here are some of the graves we saw in the old cemetary at the church. Notice the one above, the man lived to be over 100 years old! Can you imagine how much he saw during his life?

This one was special because Lee and I have decided if we have another baby girl we want to name her Lillie and use the "ie" like I have in my name. We found this Lillie with the spelling the way we like it! No, we are not using the middle name "Mae."
